We were asked to summarize a blog post and share it with our focus group. In the following memo, I have included a summary of a blog post about the poor online video capabilities of the Apple iPad and it's implications for those who regularly watch videos.

The Apple iPad, a tablet PC recently released to the public, functions somewhere between the Apple Macbook and iTouch. The much anticipated iPad has disappointed many of those who use their computers to watch videos, due to its lack of certain functions.

Included in the Apple iPad (regarding video capabilities)
  1. -Speaker and microphone
  2. -Full iTunes support
  3. -Options such as YouTube HD, and MLB.tv

What the Apple iPad does not include
  1. -Camera
  2. -Flash support
  3. -HDMI, or USB ports.

Significance
Apple iPad fails to address the needs of the many online media viewers and video up-loaders. The iPad is essentially a larger version of the iPhone, but with a more powerful processor and larger viewing screen. It would only make sense that more video capabilities were included to further justify the larger screen. The iPad does not cater to the entertainment needs of students, nor does it fully satisfy the needs of workers who many need to video conference via Skype.

Questions
  1. Do the limited video capabilities of the iPad deter you from possibly purchasing it?
  2. How often do you use your camera to Skype, or post videos online?
